Remember that event I was so excited about last year? That event that paid tribute to African women who have contributed to the development of the continent? That event where I rocked this magnificent dress and took this bad-boy of a bathroom selfie?
That event is back!
The African Women Awards presented by the African Women Association are pleased to announce that nominations for the second edition of the AWAwards are open now (April 2016) until 17 June 2016.
African Women Association, which was founded by Carol Nyazika and Lisa Chiriseri, (pictured below) will be hosting the second edition of the African Women Awards on the 3rd of December 2016 in Harare Zimbabwe (Venue TBC). After hosting a successful award ceremony last year, the AWA team are dedicated to produce yet another unforgettable evening for all the nominees and guests.
AWA aims to empower women in order to maximize their opportunities for self actualization through innovation and creativity. This platform endeavors to create a fresh brand of African women role models and show firsthand the endless possibilities that reside in African women.
AWA encourages everyone from all over Africa to submit the name of women who meet the criteria; women are also encouraged to enter their own names too. I know that there is at least one African woman that you know deserves to be celebrated. This is your chance to help them get the recognition they deserve. You can submit your nominations via the AWA website or their Facebook page. The shortlist will be announced on 22nd of July and tickets will also be available as from the 22nd of July.
Sponsorship opportunities are available and AWA encourages businesses to contact them for more information on @africanwomenawards.com.
Go on now, enter those names!
