Mozambique Fashion Week is currently underway at the Polana Serena Hotel, in Maputo from 3 – 13 December. Established in 2005, this year’s event will be blessed by two brilliant Zimbabwean designers and one runway model. Kudakwashe Chigariro of LiZA Couture and Philip T Marufu of Amur Bespoke together with Zimbabwe’s first plus size runway model RuTendo DeNise make their way to Maputo, Mozambique on Friday 13th December. Both Chigariro and Marufu will be making their maiden showcase.
Philip Marufu was a big hit at Zimbabwe Fashion Week that took place in September. Known for his custom tailored suits and flawless finish, Philip Marufu continues to raise the bar in the Zimbabwean Fashion Industry with his signature Bespoke suits. With a clientele of some of the country’s most prominent and influential business, political and entertainment figures, Philip’s clothing label Armur Bespoke is definitely one to look out for.

Kudakwashe Chigariro founded LiZA couture in February 2013 and debuted at Zimbabwe Fashion Week in August of the same year. LiZA Couture collaborated with RuTendo DeNise at Zim Fashion Week 2015. “…for us, having her as one of our brand ambassadors is also our commitment to catering for all the beautiful plus sized women who seek timeless, tailored clothes to suite any occasion” “- Kudakwashe said.

RuTendo DeNise is a Zimbabwean performance poet, writer, model and social media success story. The former Head of Public Relations for Zimbabwe Fashion Week and Features Editor of Pan African Fashion & Lifestyle Magazine Domino, she is a recipient of the esteemed Ten Outstanding Young Persons (TOYP) in Zimbabwe award by Junior Chamber International for personal achievement. In 2014, she made national history by becoming Zimbabwe’s first plus sized model to grace a fashion runway at Zimbabwe Fashion Week 2014. Referring to herself as “The ToweRing Goddess”, she debuted and closed the collection for Durban based designers TZM Fashion House and opened for award winning East African designer Mustafa Hassanali. She has also graced Zambia and Swahili Fashion Weeks respectively.
